Overview
FanVPN is a browser extension that routes your browser traffic through a secure proxy server. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how our extension works.
Data We Do Not Collect
FanVPN does not collect any of the following:
- Browsing history or URLs you visit
- Personal identification information
- IP addresses or location data
- Login credentials or passwords
- Cookies or tracking data
- Usage statistics or analytics
How the Extension Works
FanVPN uses the Chrome proxy API to route your browser traffic through our secure server. This is done entirely within your browser — no data is logged on our servers.
The extension fetches an encrypted configuration file to determine which proxy server to connect to. This configuration file contains only server connection details and is encrypted using RSA + AES encryption.
Permissions Explanation
- proxy — Required to route browser traffic through our secure server
- storage — Used only to save your connection preference (on/off) locally
- tabs — Used to detect when new tabs are opened to apply proxy settings
Third-Party Services
FanVPN connects to our proxy server to route your traffic. The proxy server does not log any user activity or store personal data.
The encrypted configuration file is hosted on GitLab. We do not share any user data with GitLab or any other third party.
